Senior Dan promotions Print E-mail

A Senior Dan grading was held at the International Instructors Course on the 6th of March in Auckland. From the Wellington Region Mr Darren Ward was promoted to 5th Dan, and Mr Richard Lavin and Mr Brett Kraiger were promoted to 4th Dan.

The weekend was a momentous one which saw Master Wim Bos (Italy) promoted to 9th Dan (the highest rank in ITF Taekwon-Do), and Master Michael Daher (Australia) promoted to 8th Dan.

We also saw the promotion of ITFNZ's fourth ever 7th Dan, Master James Rimmer. Also promoted to 7th Dan was Master Peter Barbour (Australia)

Others grading, all from New Zealand, were Mr Grant Eccles to 5th Dan, and Ms Rose Cherrington, Mr Simon Mallinson and Mr Brendan Doogan to 4th Dan.

 
Volunteers for the Oceania Champs Print E-mail

The 2010 National Tournament is doubling up with the Oceania Champs, and also this tournament is a "dress rehearsal" for the 2011 World Champs that Wellington are hosting. We need lots of support to make this a success.

We are looking for volunteers to assist us with a variety of jobs, ranging from setting up of the venue, timekeepers, runners to pack up at the end.

NZ's best grading results Print E-mail

The Wellington Region topped the list for grading results in the December 2009 grading, with 36% 'A' Passes. Second was Central Districts with 26%.

Berhampore had the best results in the country with a whopping 83% 'A' Pass rate, including 3 students who double-graded. Well done to Berhampore!

Porirua Club has won the best sports club award for Porirua City. From here they move on to the Regional award.
